Need a Little Morning Caffeine Boost?

Let’s face it… mornings are tough. If you’re like many of our student residents, you probably need a cup of java to get going and there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy some. First, you can brew your own inside your full-size apartment kitchen. While your apartment doesn’t come with a coffeemaker on its own, you are allowed to bring your own at move in. Just remember to bring your favorite mug, too.

What if you need something stronger that only a shot of espresso or an expertly crafted latte can cure? RX Brew and Donuts a few blocks away can help. Located walking distance from campus, this great locally owned café is ideal for starting your morning off great or stopping by to enjoy a study break. Plus, they serve food and who doesn’t love pastries?

How to Get to Campus and Around Town

Situated in rural Oklahoma, the town of Weatherford is actually relatively small and boasts a meager population of just over ten thousand residents. That said, the city center is really not that expansive.

Most of our residents opt to bike or walk to campus, which is under five minutes away by foot. However, a lot of the students here also bring their vehicles, as there’s plenty of parking available and few options for public transportation. This is also the best option for those who wish to take quick trips to nearby Oklahoma City or go home to see family on the weekends.

Learning from Home Today?

Have an online class or aren’t sure you feel like making it into campus for the day? Consider learning from home! Each student apartment comes equipped with free wireless high-speed internet, making it incredibly easy to check assignments or send off a quick email to your professor. Our spacious and comfortable clubhouse also comes with a computer center and a study lounge, making it easy to finish that paper or meet with classmates to wrap up a project. And your private bedroom makes it simple to keep studying without having to listen to your roommate attempt to play the ukulele.

Post-Study Fitness Time

After a hard day of learning either on-campus or at home, it is time to blow off some steam with a bit of exercise. Thankfully, we have an on-site state-of-the-art fitness center designed to help you increase your overall wellness and improve your health. Take a quick jog on the treadmill, lift weights, go for a spin on the exercise bike, or choose another activity that suits your fancy. If you prefer water sports, you can even do a few laps in our sparkling swimming pool. And many of our residents even enjoy taking their personal bicycle to see the sights around Weatherford!

Dining and Leisure

Getting a little hungry? There are plenty of restaurants and dining facilities nearby to enjoy. Of course, the food court at SWOSU is always a good place to start. Located in the Memorial Student Center, it serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But there’s also plenty of other options including Luigi’s Italian Restaurant, Casa Soto *El Patio instead of Casa Sotos*, RX Brew Coffehouse, and many of the same fast food and fast casual chains you see in other cities.

After dinner, there’s plenty to do to enjoy the evening. Meet up with friends at Southwestern Lanes bowling alley or catch the latest blockbuster at the Showest 4 movie theater. Or you can visit campus to catch a fine art show, sports game, or another student event. There are monthly “Route 66 Nights” downtown with vendors, food trucks, music, and more.

Don’t Forget the General Thomas P. Stafford Air & Space Museum!

If you love all things intergalactic, then you’ll adore the Stafford Air and Space Museum. Open seven days a week, it is a great place to learn and to bring visiting family members to see. Located just over two miles from campus, this center explores the life of General Thomas P. Stafford, astronaut and Weatherford native. It boasts over 3,500 artifacts on display and has several informative exhibits about space flight and exploration. (Think things like early flight, rocket travel, space suits, and more.)
